Account and subscriptions

Subscriptions are managed on the Me tab on iPhone and iPad, and from the subscription card and Settings on the Mac panel. Signing in to a provider account is optional: any subscription URL works without an account.

Some providers run a dashboard that MeowX can sign in to. Signing in lets you:

  • See the subscriptions in your account and import any of them with one tap.
  • Have your only subscription imported automatically right after signing in (see Auto-import after sign-in).
  • Show your nickname and avatar on the account card.
  • Receive account updates from the dashboard in real time (“Real-time sync enabled”).

If your provider does not run such a dashboard, simply skip this section and import your subscription URL.

MeowX signs in with a one-time QR code generated by your provider’s dashboard (usually under your personal menu, as “Scan to log in” or similar).

  1. On the dashboard (on your computer, for example), open the QR login code.
  2. In MeowX, open the Me tab and tap the QR button in the top-right corner, or Scan to sign in on the account card.
  3. Allow camera access if asked, and point the camera at the code.

From the browser. If the dashboard offers a “log in to client” link and you open it on the same device, MeowX signs in directly. On the Mac, the panel opens and shows the result.

The pink card at the top of the Me tab (and of the Mac Settings tab) shows:

Status line Meaning
Not signed in · “Sign in to enable real-time sync and account features” No account. A Scan to sign in button is shown
Your nickname · Real-time sync enabled Signed in. A Sign out button is shown
Your nickname · Login expired, please sign in again The dashboard no longer accepts the session (sessions expire after a while, or were revoked). Scan a new code to sign in again

When your login expires, your subscriptions and settings stay on the device; only the session is cleared.

Your nickname and avatar are taken from the dashboard when you sign in. After that, MeowX fetches them again only when you refresh a subscription by hand (the refresh buttons on the Home subscription card, the Me tab and the Mac panel header), or when you tap refresh on your account’s subscription list. They are not refreshed on a timer. If you changed your avatar on the dashboard, tap refresh once to see it.

Tap Sign out (Mac: Sign out on the account card in Settings).

On the Me tab, the Subscriptions card contains:

  • Import subscription (the + button in the card header), which opens the import area: paste a subscription URL or your provider’s short link, then tap Import. The hint below mentions that clash://install-config links work too. On a fresh install this area opens by itself and pulses gently.
  • The current subscription, highlighted with a pink outline and a Current tag. It shows a usage bar, used / total traffic, the expiry date and when it was last updated. The … menu offers Switch to other, Refresh and Delete.
  • Your other subscriptions, one row each with their usage. Tap a row to make it current. Touch and hold for Set as current, Refresh and Delete.
  • Account subscriptions (when signed in): the subscriptions in your provider account, with usage and expiry if the dashboard reports them. Tap one to download it and switch to it immediately. The circular-arrow button reloads the list (and your nickname / avatar).
  • Any error from the last import or refresh, in red.
  • Importing a URL that is already in the list updates that subscription instead of adding a duplicate.
  • A newly imported URL becomes current only if no other profile is current. Since the built-in Direct (no proxy) profile counts as a profile, you usually need to select the new subscription after importing it (tap it on the Me tab, or use Choose subscription on the Home card). Subscriptions picked from your account list are always switched to right away.
  • On the Mac, a subscription QR code shown on screen can be imported with Scan QR code on screen. The iPhone camera scanner is only for signing in.
  • Importing a local configuration file is not supported. The running configuration can be viewed read-only under Me › View config.

Switching to another subscription (from the Home card, the Me tab, or the Mac menu) applies its configuration at once. If MeowX is connected, it reconnects with the new configuration.

The Home tab’s Switch subscription menu lists your local subscriptions first, then Account subscriptions · not downloaded: ones from your account that are not on this device yet. Choosing one of those downloads it and switches to it. A subscription counts as already downloaded if its short-link path matches one on the device, even if the host name differs.

  • Deleting the current subscription switches to the next remaining subscription and reconnects.
  • If it was your last subscription, MeowX clears the configuration and disconnects. It does not silently fall back to sending traffic direct while appearing connected.
  • The built-in Direct (no proxy) profile cannot be deleted.

Manually: tap the update time on the Home subscription card (“5 minutes ago ↻”), choose Refresh on the Me tab, or click the refresh button in the Mac panel header.

Automatically: MeowX refreshes the current subscription when it is older than the sync interval at the time the app starts.

  • On iPhone and iPad, set the interval in Me › Proxy & Speed Test › Sync interval: Manual, Every 6 hours, Every 12 hours, Daily (default) or Every 3 days.
  • On iPhone and iPad, if Background App Refresh is allowed for MeowX in iOS Settings, iOS can also run the refresh in the background at a time it chooses, and the Home Screen widget is updated afterwards. The same settings page shows whether it is on, with a Go enable button that opens iOS Settings when it is off.
  • On the Mac, the interval is fixed at one day: when MeowX starts and the current subscription is more than a day old, it is refreshed.

Refreshing re-downloads the subscription, always bypassing any cached copy. Your custom rules, bypass list and other overrides are not affected by a refresh. If a refresh fails, the error is shown in the subscription card and recorded in the logs.

Right after you sign in, MeowX imports a subscription for you and switches to it only when all of these are true:

  1. You are not currently using a subscription (the built-in Direct profile is current, or there is none).
  2. There is no subscription from this dashboard on the device yet.
  3. Your account has exactly one subscription.

If your account has several subscriptions, MeowX does not guess; pick one from the account list. If you are already using another provider’s subscription, MeowX does not replace it. This only happens at the moment of signing in: if you later delete the imported subscription, it is not added back.
