Settings

Settings live on the Me tab, below the account and subscriptions. On a phone, each entry shows a short summary of its current state and opens a sheet when tapped. On wide screens (Windows, wide tablets) the groups are laid out directly in columns, and Advanced settings is a button at the top right. Changes apply right away; where MeowX needs to reload the configuration, it does so automatically if you are connected.

Entry What’s inside
Proxy & Speed Test DNS mode, latency test method, test URL
Traffic control Block QUIC, proxy push services, DNS hijack, bypass list, custom rules
Proxied apps Android Per-app proxy. See Android: VPN and proxied apps
VPN & system Android Auto-connect, network speed notification. See Android: VPN and proxied apps
Startup & window Windows Launch at startup, silent launch, auto-connect, tray menu. See Windows: window, tray and hotkeys
Takeover Windows TUN, system proxy, system proxy exclusions. See Windows: TUN and system proxy
Global hotkeys Windows Keyboard shortcuts. See Windows: window, tray and hotkeys
Local proxy Port, LAN access, username and password

Platform-specific entries have pink icons (pink headings on wide screens).

Option Choices What it does
DNS mode Follow subscription (default), Redir-Host, Fake-IP How DNS queries are answered while connected. “Follow subscription” uses Fake-IP only if the subscription asks for it, and Redir-Host otherwise. See Concepts. If the effective mode changes while connected, MeowX reloads automatically
Test method HTTPS latency (default), Real connection latency, TCPing How node latency is measured. See Nodes. Changing it clears existing results
Test URL Cloudflare (default), Google, Google (connectivitycheck), Apple, Custom The address used for latency tests. Custom asks for your own URL

The DNS tile on Home is a shortcut for the DNS mode.

Your own overrides. They are stored separately from your subscription, so refreshing or switching subscriptions does not touch them. If you are connected, MeowX reloads the configuration after a change.

The order at the top of the rule list is: Block QUIC, connections to your provider’s dashboard (direct), bypass list, push services (when not proxied), custom rules, then your subscription’s own rules.

Off by default. Rejects UDP traffic to port 443, which QUIC (HTTP/3) uses. Apps notice that QUIC does not work and fall back to regular HTTPS over TCP. Useful when your nodes handle UDP poorly.

Because it is first in the list, it also applies to traffic that the bypass list or custom rules would send direct.

On by default: push notification traffic follows your rules like everything else. Turn it off to always send push traffic direct: Google’s push service (mtalk.google.com and TCP ports 5228 to 5230, used by FCM / Google Play services) and Apple’s push domain. Direct push often makes notifications arrive more reliably when a node is slow or down.

Make a domain always resolve to an IPv4 address you choose. Entries are added to the configuration’s hosts, so they work in every outbound mode and DNS mode.

Pattern Matches
example.com Exactly example.com
*.example.com One level of subdomain, such as www.example.com
+.example.com (or .example.com) example.com and all of its subdomains

Tap +, enter the domain and an IPv4 address, and tap Add. Up to 1,000 entries. The address cannot be inside the Fake-IP range 198.18.0.0/16.

Connections matching an entry are sent direct. Two lists:

  • Domains, with the same example.com / *.example.com / +.example.com syntax as DNS hijack.
  • IP / CIDR, such as 192.0.2.1, 10.0.0.0/8 or 2001:db8::/32. These match the destination IP without resolving domains.

Up to 1,000 entries in total.

Send a specific domain or IP Direct, through the Proxy, or Reject it. See Custom rules.

MeowX always runs a local HTTP and SOCKS5 proxy on one port while it is connected. Other apps can use it directly, and on Windows the system proxy points to it.

Option Default What it does
Port 7890 The port to listen on, from 1024 to 65535
Allow LAN Off When on, other devices on your network can use the proxy too
Username / Password Not set Require these credentials. Leave the username empty to turn authentication off

The address is shown at the bottom (127.0.0.1:7890, plus your LAN address when Allow LAN is on). Tap it to copy.

Sync interval: Manual, 6 hours, 12 hours, Daily (default) or 3 days. When the interval has passed, the current subscription is downloaded again the next time you open the app. See Account and subscriptions.

Off by default. When on (“Also records the routing and DNS details of each connection”), the core’s log is shown on the Logs side of the Activity tab. Leave it off when you do not need it.

Option Choices
Theme Follow system, Light, Dark
Theme style Classic (default, solid controls) or Liquid Glass (controls that float above the content, such as the tab bar, buttons and switches, become glass)
Glass style Clear or Tinted (thicker and higher contrast). Only with Liquid Glass
Card color The color of content cards. In dark mode, a dark card of the same hue is used
Launch card color The color of the connection card on Home and of the power button
Accent color Highlighted text and icons, selection outlines, the selected tab and progress bars. MeowX darkens or lightens it automatically if the contrast is too low
App icon Android Default (the cat girl), M · Dark, M · Light

Each color offers a few presets and Custom with a color picker.

When you change the app icon on Android, the system closes the app window (the connection is not affected); open MeowX again from the home screen. Some launchers remove the old icon from the home screen; add it again from the app drawer.

Advanced (on wide screens, the Advanced settings button) opens Bettbox’s own settings and tools, unchanged. Among them:

  • Language of the Bettbox pages and the tray menu.
  • Core Configuration: mihomo options such as log level, ports, IPv6, DNS and TUN settings.
  • Backup & Restore via WebDAV or a local file.
  • Application: for example Auto Check Updates, launch behavior and other app options.
  • Enhanced Tools: on Android, Battery Optimization and other tools.
  • Access Control on Android (more options for proxied apps), Hotkey Management on Windows.
  • Theme, About and the original Bettbox pages for logs, requests, resources and scripts.
  • Version.
  • Check for updates. On Windows you can update inside the app; on Android it offers the matching APK. See Updates. When a new version has been found, the About entry shows “New version available” with its number.
  • Open-source license: GPL-3.0, based on Bettbox, FlClash and mihomo. Opens the source code.
  • Disclaimer.
